We’re having twins.
No, not real kind. Not the kind that you pop out on the same day
at least. We’re having the Irish kind. Irish Twins. For those of you
that are unfamiliar with this slang term, it means two children in the same family that are less than one year apart in age. Baby “Oops” (yes I really said that) is due to arrive Christmas Day, which will mean our children will only be 11 months apart. Lord help me.
No, I’m kidding. We are beyond thrilled to be having another baby. Any baby is a blessing. Even for the gals we all love from “16 and pregnant”.
While it did come as a complete shock and we still pause in mid bite at dinner, turn to each other and say “Are we really having two babies in the same year?”, we couldn’t be happier. And while I did just say I was kidding about the “Lord help me” comment, I really wasn’t. For those mothers who have babies one year apart, please send me tips. Not only are they welcome but they are required. Seriously. If your eyes cross this blog post for longer than 1 minute, you are required to leave me a tip.

And, yes that statement brought a tear to my eye. A little Irish tear.
After having only one child, I was forced to go part-time. And that’s with a child that can entertain herself for at least 45 minutes! So I can’t even imagine how much time I won’t have with a newborn and an 11 month old. It’s bitter sweet though. The bitter part is not being able to capture all the precious little moments for all my wonderful clients out there (who I will miss very very much). Must I even explain the sweet part? Ok. That would have to be staying home to care for and watch my little ones grow. I realize not many mothers get to do this. I feel very blessed.

Baby #2 is due to arrive Christmas Day which means our kiddos will be only 11 months apart. We are so excited for Mia to have a little playmate. What a wonderful Christmas present it will be for this little family.

Congratulations! You’re due four days after I am (although my little ones will be a LOT further apart-2.5 years). You do have me a little freaked out though-after reading through your previous posts and your pregnancy book, I’m wondering if our initial 13 week ultrasound may be wrong and we’re having a girl, not a boy. We find out Tuesday…{fingers crossed}.

Wow Johanna! Congratulations … I guess I should schedule with you Aug-Nov! The good thing about having them this close is you haven’t gotten to the terrible 2s, 3s or 4s yet with Mia … we had with Josilyn which delayed our #2′s arrival for an extra long duration lol!!!

Brandy, I am only going to make one if its another girl. I can imagine her growing up and getting mad that she didn’t have one and her sister did.
I don’t think boys care too much about what their mom’s pregnancy was like with them, so I won’t be making one if its a boy.
Major congratulations to you guys! I love keeping up with your blog and all of your fantastic photos and ideas but obviously I am a little behind.

Maral, I took this picture yesterday. I’m 12 weeks. When you have babies back to back (second one conceived two months after first one) I’m afraid you never STOP showing! Haha.
