I’m finally getting around to posting pictures from our Philly/NYC trip. Matt’s sister, Jessica & her hubby Andrew got married Bethlehem, Pennsylvania earlier this month. We flew up early so we could check out NYC since it is only 1.5 hours from Philly. We figured we wouldn’t get another chance to see it until the kids are older, so we jumped on the chance. The flight up there was awful. Mia was “that kid”. She cried the entire time. Towards the end she was literally screaming in her seat while flailing her body like a dying fish. By that point I was plum out of entertainment for her. She wasn’t interested in any toys I had to offer. But then out of nowhere I got a sweet little tap on my shoulder, looked down and there was the teeniest little brown headed girl in glasses with a hand full of play-doh. In the squeakiest most adorable, polite voice she said, “Um, excuse me um, I’m playing with play-doh and I was wondering um, if she would like to play with some?” I said yes & almost kissed her. The rest of the flight was cake. Squeaky voiced girl’s mom got a huge hug from me in the tunnel after the flight.
Back to NYC – because Mia was the flower girl in the wedding, we had to take her to NY with us. Bad idea. Toddler + New York City = NO BUENO. It was mainly no bueno because we only had 2 days to see what we wanted to see, which meant we packed in a lot. We did a lot of walking. Mia got cranky after 1 hour in her stroller and cab rides were a wee bit chaotic due to the fact that we had to break down the stroller, arrange all of our stuff and toss the car seat in every time. Oh yeah and she only napped 30 minutes each day. Amongst all the walking and fussing and rain (it rained most of the whole time – hence the dreary photos) we got to see Time Square, Rockefeller Plaza, a really far away view of the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, the piano from the movie “Big” & we walked and played in Central Park. Oh and Elmo. A very SCARY Elmo according to Mia. I didn’t get near as many shots of the city as I wanted. Maybe one day we’ll visit again – toddlerless of course.
Scroll down for a recap of PA.

Then we arrived in Bethlehem, PA and we could breath again. It was gorgeous, slow-paced (more my style), Mia had room to run and skip and she could nap for more than 30 minutes. The day of the wedding came and we had some time to kill, so Mia and I went for a walk + a quick shoot. Once again, it was muggy and overcast. Then it was time to get ready for the wedding. My plan was to take pictures of Jess getting ready, but that didn’t really happen since I was so busy trying to get Mia to nap before her big flower girl debut. I got one picture of Jess.
The wedding was AMAZING and Mia did great walking down the isle. All in all the trip was great.

Mrs. Mom, who would you have killed exactly?
HA! j/k. I would have loved to photograph your little one. That trip was jam packed with little time to even eat. If I head up that way sometime again maybe I’ll try to schedule some sessions.
I’m sorry your time in NYC wasn’t so spectacular
And I know this wasn’t the point of your visit to NYC but I must mention that I would have KILLED to meet up with you to photograph my little boy. I love your work and it would have been awesome for you to photograph him!
You still got some awesome shots. Love the one where she is holding her chin and all the rest of them of course are wonderful
